Picture above of the David Gard Family - David was Ed's DJ boss at Cmplete Music Disc Jockey Ssevice!

Moving right along in the new millenium....

Ed had by that time given up on his acting by giving it over to God. Then circumstances led him back to do a little theater, and piddle around with a little acting troupe for a while. Ed appeared in the Passion Play Of Las Vegas as "Ephraim" during the 2002 and 2003 seasons at the Riviera Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Then in 2004 Ed was "Annas" in the Passion Play Of Las Vegas at the Riviera Hotel and Casino. Ed was also able to get his voice characters on the air on KKVV Las Vegas where he works. Ed also was given the job of production supervisor learning a great deal more than he would have learned had he stayed in Portlland.

He tried to get voice-over work with "Adventures In Odyssey" of Focus On The Family in Colorado, but even though they liked Ed's demo, they have all of their work done by a studio in SoCal. Ed then thought of trying to work for the folks that do the "Jonathan Park" series because they do creationism drama. Ed had been emailing and talking with the Pat Roy the writer/producer of "Jonathan Park" and was able to do a little VO work for them on the 26th of February 2005! Ed played the part of Elias Bennet, a mid 70 year old paleontologist gone mad/bad! The two "Jonathan Park" episodes are called "Jonathan Park And The Temple Of The Moon".

Ed hosted a creationist radio program for about four months. It was a creation variety show consisting of creation evangelism readings and the program "Science Scriptures & Salvation" from Institute for Creation Research, "Jonathan Park" from Vision Forum, and "Answers With Ken Ham" from Answers In Genesis, and information from many other creationist organizations. Ed has a website at; www.firstday.faithweb.com where he will shared more information and links to other creation sites. The program officially started on Saturday the 18th of December 2004, and aired it's last show on Saturday April 2nd 2005.

Ed went on a vacation cruise in the Eastern Caribbean with KT (Kathy Troccoli) & Friends (Avalon, Point Of Grace, Scott Krippayne, & Dr. Dan Allender) from January 15 through the 22nd of 2005! Wow, what a great time he had. Ed was blessed with the priviledge of being able to sing a duet with Kathy Trocolli during karaoke night! SEE THE PICS on the PHOTO page!

This is a reason for Ed's dream.

This is why I have the dream of putting CD dramas and such into the hands of parents and children!!!!!

Go to http://www.answersingenesis.org to find out how you can help!

Ed has now obtained a website at:

http://www.voiceopolis.com

to be able to promote his voice over work.

Last winter, Ed ordered one of the top books for voice over, "The Art Of VOICE ACTING -2nd edition" by James R. Alburger. See: http://www.voiceacting.com to order the book and sign up for the free newsletter. If you order a book through this website, you'll receive an autographed copy! This is an excellent resource, and a must have for anyone involved in voice over, voice acting of any kind! It includes a CD that highlights much of the book, as well as audio samples of style, and delivery etc.

This spring Ed studied a DVD course: Stuart Dillon's "The Voice Over". It is a seven DVD intensive course on voice over with support via internet.

Ed also read the book by Jeffrey P Fisher and Harlan Hogan "The Voice Actor's Guide to Home Recording".

www.jeffreypfisher.com

www.harlanhogan.com

God has already blessed Ed with a lot of knowledge about the digital editing that he did not know before coming to Las Vegas back in April 2001. This book hammers down the point that Ed is pursuing his dreams as intended.

Also read and studied by Ed is the book "Acting With The Voice - The Art Of Recording Books" by Robert Blumenfeld. An excellent resource for anyone intending to break into the field of truly acting with the voice for any endeavor!

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!     THERE'S MORE??

YES, THERE'S MORE!!

Ed took the famous "Improv For Actors-1" class through The Second City. Plus the acting classes taught by Second City's fantastic acting teacher, Shatha Hicks! This took Ed right up to Memorial Day, marking his 4th anniversary at KKVV radio in Las Vegas.

Ed has been studying a new course by Bob Fraser entitled "You Must Act".

http://www.youmustact.com

Ed was invited back to record for the Jonathan Park Christian creation radio drama playing the part of a creationist scientist that gets kidnapped by a bad guy! www.jonathanpark.com Ed got a chance to visit his adult sons Steven and Tony again during that same weekend! He also was protected by God from having a serious accident on the return trip across the desert when his front left tire lost all of it's tread at high speed and didn't go flat!

Summer 2005 started with Ed finishing the eight week "Improv For Actors-1" class through The Second City, also a regular acting class through The Second City. Besides that, he's taking a six week tele-class from the A-1 voice talent from So Cal, Rodney Saulsberry! It's a very special TV promo and movie trailer voice-over class! Ed read Rodney's book - "You Can Bank On Your Voice" and listened to the audio version on his trip to So Cal. Ed is studying the book by Elaine A. Clark - "There's Money Where Your Mouth Is". During the months of June and July Ed will be taking the "Improv For Actors-2" class from The Second City.

       And that's not all ... there's more!

In April, Ed sent off inquiries about acting or voice-over work to most of the major Christian film production companies that have websites. Only one, and, one of the best too, asked for Ed’s headshot (actor’s photograph), resume, and voice-over demo. Go to: http://christianfilmmaker.com/article0a/ to learn more about Mr. Rodriguez, and while you're there check out his testimony page etc. Mr. Norton Rodriguez contacted Ed within a day to ask for his packet! Ed did so within a few days, and Mr. Norton replied that he liked Ed's demo and then Ed didn’t hear from him for a while. In the mean time, Ed sent him this email:

Norton,

...I ... noticed you steered away from mentioning my headshots, and instead made mention of my voice-work. Be honest with me Norton, I have a face made for radio don’t I? ;) I suppose that for me to get part in a movie, it would have to be a comedy... that waaay, if they don’t laugh at the jokes, they can laugh at my mug!!...

And then it took a few weeks for him to reply, but he had reason:

Hi Ed,

Sorry it has taken it has taken me a while to get back to you. Things did get a little crazy, with all the marketing and promotion for Amor Violento (www.thegodofmoses.com). The premiere went really great, people were very touched by the film’s message.

About your pictures, you look fine my friend... what can I say?...you need to be in pictures :-) because you are a great character. ...

Ed, I was really impressed with your voice over demo you sent me... and I’ve been thinking. I know there is something we can do together (I mean it). Let’s keep praying. I would love to make children films and you aside from the great voice you have I know you’ll also make a great character. I haven’t forgotten you, let’s just keep praying.

So, Ed is continuing to pray for Norton Rodriguez, and all of what he is doing in the Christian film industry. And of course that Ed will be able to be a part of bringing the truth of the gospel to children through the talents that God has given him!
